Whew! What a Week

I don't know where in the world this week went! I obviously didn't spend it blogging! Work has been insanely busy and I've found my days getting longer and longer. Fortunately, it's finally the weekend and I can take a chance to catch my breath. It has been lovely and warm this week and I'm happy to finally see (and feel) the sun consistently.

I was lucky enough to spend last night catching up with my cousin and his two adorable kids. We went to a fun family-style Italian restaurant in Providence and the kids had a blast. I hope to spend some more time with them this summer! I'm also excited because there's only five more days until I head home for a long weekend and a much-needed break from work. I'm trying to cram as much fun into next weekend as possible (and hopefully a visit to Georgetown Cupcake!). Hope you all enjoy this gorgeous weather!

I'm loving these adorable state necklaces by Maya Brenner. They come in yellow gold or sterling silver and you can even get a little diamond placed anywhere on the border. Celebs like Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria-Parker have been spotted wearing them. Have multiple places you call home? Glamourous

I picked up the new May issue of Glamour on Sunday afternoon and it's packed with adorable spring outfits and style tips. I like Glamour because it's not too serious of a fashion magazine and it usually showcases some affordable runway-inspired trends. Plus, they have other worthwhile articles and fun recipes to try.

Lauren Conrad is on this month's cover and her feature is great! She is photographed with her two bffs, Lo Bosworth and Whitney Port. She talks about their friendship and designing her new line of clothing at Kohl's. I loved the pictures--their outfits were cute and the shoes were to die for (especially the lavender CL peep toes!). It's definitely worth checking out the gallery here. I'm in love with the Citizens tank she's wearing on the cover.

Play Ball

I'm so glad that baseball season has started! Nothing says summer to me like the Red Sox and Fenway Park. The home opener last night has really started a buzz about the season and I'm excited! I can't wait to spend a sunny afternoon on Yawkey Way with a hot dog and taking in all the sights.

Lego Kitchen

Check out this kitchen counter made from more than 20,000 Lego bricks! The designers bought a table from Ikea and covered in in the plastic blocks. I think it looks pretty neat in the otherwise simple kitchen. Wonder how long it took to finish...

Peep Art

This year marked the fourth annual Washington Post Peeps diorama contest and there were over 1,000 amazing entries! The winner paid homage to the hit movie Up with a bunch of balloons made of Peeps. Other favorites (of mine) included a Peeps spin on Mario Brothers, Where the Wild Things Are, and Goodnight Moon. You really have to go to the gallery (here) and check out the finalists. The attention to detail is amazing! I want to make a Peeps diorama next year to enter in the contest!

Growing up in Catholic school, it was some sort of unwritten (yet mandatory) law that we had to cover our textbooks. My mom always managed to do so with brown paper grocery bags (I still have no idea how). When I first saw these book jackets by Book City Jackets that's exactly what I thought of! Of course, these are much cooler and some are even made in limited editions! My favorites are the fiction, nonfiction, and favorite set. I love that you can use them to jot down notes, something I never dared to do in elementary school. Best of all, they're made from recycled paper!
