I'm Not Ready!

I enjoyed having today off and made the most of it by waking up early and making pumpkin spiced pancakes, running errands, meeting a friend for a Pinkberry date, and catching up on Grey's Anatomy. I may have even snuck in a couple of work reports, too! I was so surprised to see a huge table of Christmas ornaments on display at Nordstrom. Usually, they wait until after Thanksgiving to put all of their decorations out. I spotted a few that I'd like to add to my tree this year, though! I can't believe the holidays are already upon us.

A special thank you to all of the veterans today, especially my Pop-Pop and good friends Bill and Devin.
Your service to our country is much appreciated.

Collectible Cards

Look what I found while cleaning today! That's right, ALF trading cards, circa 1987. It was one of my favorite TV shows as a kid. I wish they would bring him back!

Gossip Catch-Up

I'm the first to admit that I was late to hop on the Gossip Girl train, but now I'm completely hooked. I'm about halfway through with season three, and I have to say, the college years have been great so far (unlike the major Saved by the Bell letdown)! Plus, the fashion keeps getting better. I'm hoping to catch up by the end of the current season. Is it worth continuing? Chuck Bass is my favorite character (and Georgina my least fav)!

Post Office Goodies

There's nothing better than going to get your mail and finding not one, but two surprises! Thanks to my mom and Tiane for sending some fun stuff my way. I can't wait to check out Dexter. My little sister loves that show!

Keeping it Low Key

Blankets, more Chicago trip research, and playoff hockey are all in the plan at my house tonight. I'm really liking the warm, sunny days and cool nights. It finally feels like summer!

Must See

This weekend was so relaxing and gave me plenty of time to recharge. It's felt even longer than three days, which is such a treat! I went to the movies twice and saw the Hangover Two and Bridesmaids. Both were hysterical and I definitely recommend checking them out. I also caught up on some DVR'd shows, including last weekend's SNL with Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga. They're quite a funny pair and the "Liquor World" jingle has been stuck in my head all day! The grill saw a lot of work, as did the margarita maker, which always equals a good time. I'm heading out for a sushi date with M and I honestly can't think of a better way to close out the long weekend.
Hope you all enjoyed yours!

P.S. Make this smoothie. I did. You won't regret it!

Beach Reads

This has just been added to the list of books I'm planning on reading over the summer.
What's on your summer reading list?

Belle of the Ball

Like so many of my girlfriends, I tuned in to watch the Academy Awards last night. For the most part, I thought the show was boring and dragged on a lot longer than necessary. The best part for me was watching the red carpet arrivals and picking apart all of the outfits. There were some highlights, like Mila Kunis, who looked romantic and glamorous in Elie Saab. I thought her whole look was flawless. I'd die to own a dress like that. There were far too many low points to mention (Nicole Kidman's atrocious kimono getup, Gwyneth Paltrow's sub-par musical performance, and whatever was going on with James Franco). Other notables: lots of big, colorful jewels, Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford, Anne Hathaway's custom Louboutins, and the performance by the PS22 chorus. Amazing!

What did you enjoy most/least about the show?

Zoe What?

Don't freak out, BUT I've never seen an episode of the Rachel Zoe Project (I know, I know, blasphemous); however, Who, What, Wear's feature the other day seriously caught my eye and I do enjoy the daily Zoe Report. Plus, the fact that Brian Atwood is going to be on tonight's show has got me seriously questioning why I don't DVR this series. My question for all you Zoe watchers out there is: do I have to watch season one first or can I jump right in now? Do you all really DIE for it? Is it that uh-mazing that it can't be missed? What has everyone obsessed over Rachel Zoe?

P.S. I absolutely love the dress she has on in that picture! So classy.

Guilty Pleasure

I cannot even deny how addicted I am to this show. It's such a train wreck and I love it. I'm totally waiting for Danielle to absolutely lose it. Even her poor daughters know how crazy she is. In my opinion, it's the most volatile housewives cast yet. I can't wait for the DC ladies to premiere later this summer.

Who are your favorite Housewives?

Ginger vs. Mary Ann

Besides the original Batman series (I had a huge crush on Burt Ward), Gilligan's Island was definitely my favorite show to watch reruns of as a child. I was always fascinated by the Professor's crazy inventions, the Howells' incompetence, and of course the age-old debate of Ginger versus Mary Ann. Ginger got to parade around the island in gorgeous, slinky gowns (totally impractical), while Mary Ann rocked cute gingham tops and cutoff shorts. I definitely preferred Mary Ann's girl next door style to Ginger's movie star glam. Fortunately, the gingham check is back in style (and not just for your picnic table)! Here are some of my favorite picks for the trend.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Just remember, a little gingham goes a long way. Don't overdo it!

Get Lost, Lost!

I think I may be one of the ten people in the whole country who won't be tuning into Lost's season finale tonight. I just don't care. I tried to get into it; in fact, I watched the first two seasons religiously, but then it got boring. It was moving too slowly and was just too cryptic (and I'm too antsy). Not enough answers coming fast enough for my liking. Instead, I'll be blogging tonight and making ribs for Marc and his friend (who will be watching Lost). I can't help but feel like millions of people are going to be disappointed (think Sopranos & Seinfeld).

Any one else share my feelings?

No? Didn't think so.
