Weekend Snapshots: Cape Cod

Can you believe I've lived in Rhode Island for almost five years and had never been to Cape Cod prior to this past weekend? Me either! It seems so silly since it's literally less than two hours from my doorstep. Fortunately, my friend/coworker Jan invited me to spend the a night at her adorable Cape house and showed me all around Yarmouth and Dennis. It was a whirlwind 24 hours, but we were able to pack so much into a short amount of time that it felt like a three day vacation! The highlights for me were lots of time spent walking on the beach, an early breakfast at the Red Cottage, and a surprise woody wagon show (that made me wish my dad was with me). I can't wait to go back and explore more of the little beach towns on Cape Cod, which seems to be much easier to navigate in the off season.

Friday afternoon walk on Seagull Beach.

New England beaches have so much character.

Admiring lots of old woody wagons in pristine condition.

Deluxe.

I loved the surf board tied to the roof.

Antique Massachusetts license plate + flags.

Sleek hood ornament.

Monogrammed doors, apropos for the Cape.

West Dennis beach after the storm clouds cleared.

There was an abundance of horseshoe crabs washed up on the beach.

Hunting for the perfect seashell.

Late summer beach days are so peaceful.

Footprints in the sand.

Adventures in Northern Michigan-Part Three

On the girls' last day in Michigan, we celebrated my youngest sister's birthday. It was hot and sunny, so she wanted to rent a jet ski to take out on the lake, which ended up being one of the highlights of the trip for everyone! It was great to be able to spend the majority of the day on the beach and zipping around the lake. We capped off the perfect evening with margaritas, fajitas, and live music alfresco at the only Mexican restaurant in town.

Chips + salsa. Pretty much the best snack ever.

Guacamole + lots of bright colors.

Sangria/margarita hybrid: the sangria splash.

Sisters!

Michigan sunsets are unreal.

Snapped just after the sun dipped down over the horizon. People on the beach applauded!

Easter Treats + San Diego Encore

Hope you're all having a fabulous Easter! I indulged in too many coconut M&M's and a mimosa over brunch and have spent the rest of the day reading, relaxing, and watching the Masters. I feel so accomplished after giving up sweets and alcohol for forty whole days. To be honest, I missed the sweets much more than the drinking! It's nice to be able to have a little sweet bite of chocolate or candy after dinner. I also finished uploading the rest of my pictures from California (a little behind on that, oops!). It's hard to believe the trip was almost two months ago! Most of these are from an afternoon spent in La Jolla and a few of the church at the University of San Diego.

Valentine's Day in La Jolla

I can't believe how quickly my week in California passed by! I got back to Providence last night and am definitely still on west coast time. Here are some snapshots from last Tuesday, which was spent exploring la Jolla. I think this was definitely one of my favorite days of the entire vacation. La Jolla is so picturesque and the weather that day was nearly perfect. I enjoyed spending the entire day with M, something that we haven't been able to do in past years.

I started off my morning with a blowout at the Drybar in Del Mar.

The perfect beachy cosmo-tai, which made me feel like a celeb!

We found out what all the hype was about at In-N-Out (so good!).

Lots of pretty Valentine's flowers for sale in La Jolla.

Clear blue skies and an intricate mosaic on the front of a church.

Hearts decorated all of the boutique windows.

Arcade building at sunset.

Gazing out at the Pacific in my favorite scalloped blazer.

La Jolla cove and Torrey Pines in the background.

A breathtaking California sunset and red + pink balloons.

The day could not have been more perfect and relaxing!

Weekend Snapshots: Parisian Invasion

Multicolored party.

George's at Salty Brine state beach.

Leslie in the surf.

Pre-dinner beach stroll.

Rocking the gingham and chambray.

Corona and seafood make the perfect pair.

Leslie + me out on George's deck.

Sunday morning Pinkberry run. Watermelon, please!

Neon nail polish at American Apparel. Their fall pencil skirts are perfect.

Souvenir shopping at Craftland.

Amazing grilled pizza with spinach + feta at Bob & Timmy's on Federal Hill.

As I said before, my cousin was in town for the weekend in mid-August. She goes to school and lives in Paris, but spends summers in the states. This was her third year visiting Providence and we had so much fun! It's great to have visitors, because we do lots of things that we wouldn't typically get around to doing.

Some highlights of our weekend:
sushi date at haruki. hope street farmers market. pb&j pinkberry. matching bracelets. clamcakes + chowder on the beach. live music out on the restaurant deck. putting our feet in the ocean. grilling up a breakfast pizza. silly photo shoots. iced coffee runs. shopping on westminster street. bob & timmy's grilled pizza. and most important = carrying on a fun summer tradition!

Can't wait to see you next summer, Les!
