This weekend was so relaxing and gave me plenty of time to recharge. It's felt even longer than three days, which is such a treat! I went to the movies twice and saw the Hangover Two and Bridesmaids. Both were hysterical and I definitely recommend checking them out. I also caught up on some DVR'd shows, including last weekend's SNL with Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga. They're quite a funny pair and the "Liquor World" jingle has been stuck in my head all day! The grill saw a lot of work, as did the margarita maker, which always equals a good time. I'm heading out for a sushi date with M and I honestly can't think of a better way to close out the long weekend.
Hope you all enjoyed yours!
P.S. Make this smoothie. I did. You won't regret it!

Say Cheese

Now that I've crossed "attend an outdoor concert" off of my summer to-do list, it's time to move on to the next item: photo booth session. I've always loved the nostalgia associated with photo booths. It's a great way to be silly and instantly get a cute black & white strip of memories as a souvenir. I love the simplicity behind them, and I've often thought of how much fun it would be to do a photo booth album instead of a traditional guest book at a wedding. There's a great website that lists locations of photo booths all around the world and even showcases some amazing art.
When I think of photo booths, I'm always reminded of the movie Beaches (total tear-jerker) with Bette Midler and the girl who played Blossom (Mayim Bialik). Anyway, there's a scene on the boardwalk where the two girls go into a photo booth and print out pictures to remember the summer they met. Too cute! I'm hoping to go on a photo booth adventure with Marc and take funny-faced shots to stick on my bedroom mirror. Sounds fun, right?!

Guilty Pleasure

I cannot even deny how addicted I am to this show. It's such a train wreck and I love it. I'm totally waiting for Danielle to absolutely lose it. Even her poor daughters know how crazy she is. In my opinion, it's the most volatile housewives cast yet. I can't wait for the DC ladies to premiere later this summer.

Date Night

I've had such a fun weekend & hope you have too! It seems like the past couple days have been packed with fun events, warm weather, and lots of laughs. The highlight of the weekend for me was seeing Toy Story 3 earlier today. I don't want to give anything away, but it was amazing! It definitely surpassed my expectations and had me in hysterics multiple times. I recommend that everyone go out and see what appears to be the last of the Toy Story adventures. Be sure to look out for cameos from other Pixar movies, like the Cars poster on Andy's bedroom wall and a Nemo toy in the daycare's toy box. There's also a really cute animated short after the previews. It was such a fun way to end an amazing weekend.
What was your favorite part of this weekend?

Miss USA

I am not going to lie, I love watching beauty pageants. I know, it's totally twisted and bizarre, but ever since I was a little girl, my dad and I would camp out in front of the tv and pick our favorite contestants. Plus, I usually got to stay up really late (like 10pm) to see the crowning of the winner. Pageants are a total guilty pleasure, which is why I haven't revealed to Marc what will be on tonight's agenda (post-Celtics playoff game, of course). Tonight the Miss USA pageant is aired live from Las Vegas (beginning at 7pm), and you better believe I'll be watching. I love critiquing the gowns and cheering for the hometown favorites, but mostly I love the interview portion of the show. Some of the things that these women say are utterly embarrassing (to say it nicely). Case in point: this disaster from Miss South Carolina back in 2007.
I can't wait to see what tonight has in store!

Animate Me!

I would love to have a set of personalized stationery with my miniature cartoon portrait printed on top! How cute are these note cards?! You can get your own customized set at Rifle Paper Co. You can even get custom wedding announcements or calling cards. It makes me wonder what I'd look like as a cartoon. Hmmm...I hope I win the set from the giveaway at A Cup of Jo. That sure would be a nice way to start the weekend!

What would cartoon you look like?

Late-Night Laughs

I'm not a huge fan of late night talk shows. It's nothing personal against Letterman or Leno, I just don't usually stay up late enough during the week to catch these programs. That being said, I do have a certain affinity for Jimmy Fallon's show. I started watching it because I love the Roots and they're Jimmy's house band (side note-they do a fantastic job). I often set my DVR to record shows with celebrity guests who I like. I've grown to like Jimmy because he's not mean-spirited like those other guys. He actually comes off as a pretty nice, kinda nerdy guy who genuinely seems to be a fan of a lot of his guests. One of my favorite regular segments has to be the "Thank You Notes". It's hysterical! The music alone is enough to get me giggling. Jimmy will "write" brief thank you notes to groups of people, individuals, or even inanimate objects that have made the headlines during the week. Below is a clip from the most recent episode. There is a brief commercial in the beginning, but I promise, the Fallon clip comes right after.
If you like it, you can check out past segments here. Let me know what you think!
