Today was the perfect day for a frosty Del's lemonade after work. My favorite flavor is ruby-red grapefruit! Del's is a sure sign that summer has arrived here in Rhode Island.

Too Many Options
DSW kind of freaks me out. There are just way too many pairs of shoes. I usually leave empty handed, which wasn't any different tonight. I'm still on the hunt for some shoes to wear to my cousin's wedding this weekend. These are my back ups, you know, just in case.

A Few Snapshots From the Weekend
Sailboats on the water in Bristol.
Cones on display at The Daily Scoop.
Hydrangeas in bloom all over the place.
Can you spot the rainbow?
My homemade whole-wheat dark chocolate blueberry cookies.
M's pesto breakfast sandwich. So good!
I had such a fun weekend. We tried a great new restaurant, took advantage of the sunshine by exploring Bristol, shopped for a new blazer for M, and caught up on Gossip Girl (almost done with season 1!). How did you spend your first full weekend of summer?

Patriotic Spud
The city of Bristol, Rhode Island takes Independence Day pretty seriously. They are considered to have the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country, complete with a huge parade and lots of festivities. I spent the afternoon there today and it's apparent that they've already started getting ready for next weekend.

Mosaic
Just got home from an amazing date night at Mosaic Latin American Bistro. We managed to be the only table sitting outside on the patio, surrounded by strings of Christmas lights. Not to mention, the food was outstanding and my champagne cocktail was light and refreshing. It really was a perfect (and romantic) summer evening. And now I'm off to watch more Gossip Girl. Can every weekend be like this, pretty please?
Summer Bucket List
Inspired by Emily, Danielle, and Samantha, I've decided to come up with my own list of things I'd like to accomplish before Labor Day.
1. Enjoy fresh clams and drinks on the deck by the beach.
2. Attend an outdoor concert.
3. Plan a weekend getaway in Newport (including beach days!).
4. Take in a Red Sox game at Fenway.
5. Use up all of my restaurant gift certificates and Groupons.
6. Watch one of the Movies on the Block downtown at Tazza.
7. See fireworks!
8. Read a good book (or several)--this is at the top of my list.
9. Bake M a homemade birthday cake.
10. Have some sort of summer BBQ or housewarming party (eight months after moving in...).
This list is just to get started. There's so much I hope to do while the weather is warm. What's on your list this summer?

Healthy Treats
I've been working on perfecting a healthy recipe that also satisfies my sweet tooth. I started with this basic oatmeal cookie recipe, and after a couple of trial runs, have improved it with the addition of fresh blueberries and dark chocolate chips. The best part is that the cookies use whole wheat flour, applesauce, and a little bit of olive oil instead of butter or shortening. They taste great right out of the oven with a cold glass of milk!
Chicago in Pictures: Part Two
Day Two: Brunch at Crepes a Latte. Millennium Park. Pritzker Pavilion. Cloud Gate aka The Bean. Photo-op overload. Window shopping along the Magnificent Mile. Garrett's popcorn (omg). Lot of crazy mass transit. Hopstop. Skydeck at the Sears Tower (sadly, closed due to broken elevators). Gino's East. Chinatown. Drinks on the rooftop at Citizen. Late-night walks near the North Side. Surprise sushi at the newly opened Union. Toasting with cava.
The perfect date night.

Chicago in Pictures: Part One
Day One: Brunch at Bongo Room. Shopping in Wicker Park. St. Alfred sneaker shop. Louis Vuitton skateboard spotting. Wrigleyville. Cubs/Brewers game. Visiting Sandy B.'s hip apartment in the Ukranian Village. Margaritas at Big Star. Dinner on the patio at Small Bar. Perfect weather. Navigating the CTA (much easier than the Metro).
