Boyfriend Style

Is it too late for me to scoop up this adorable olive boyfriend blazer for late spring and early summer evenings? I love the color and the linen-style texture, but I'm not sure if I'll get much use out of it. I'm so torn! What do you think? I'd love to wear it with this edgy J. Crew bracelet and a simple tank underneath. The more I think about it, the more I want it.

Am I the only one that goes through this insane fashion lust?

New Obsession of the Moment

So last week it was orange Pellegrino (which I still love), but now there's a new obsession: dark chocolate yogurt-covered raisins. Specifically the ones by Sun-Maid. They are so yummy. And I don't even feel too guilty about eating them because they have fruit and fiber. It's better than eating a handful of chocolate chips, right? The funniest part is, I hate plain raisins. I actually only like raisins when they're mixed into cereals like raisin bran or granola. Well, now I know I like them covered in chocolate yogurt (which seems odd). I've never seen chocolate yogurt next to strawberry and raspberry at the grocery store. Oh well, they sure are tasty. You should try them!

I feel a weekly post coming on about my current favorite drink and/or snack.

Home Sweet Home

I had a great time visiting friends and family at home a couple weekends ago. I crammed way too much into just four days, but one of the highlights of my visit was spending time with my sisters. Every time I visit, I feel more and more out of the "loop", but still have fun catching up. We were fortunate enough to get to go out together for drinks and snacks on Saturday night at the Eat Bar in Clarendon. It was laid back and the perfect place for us to catch up on what's been going on in each other's lives (which is a lot).

Aside from sharing some sister time, the second best part of my night was that my wine was served in a real scientific beaker. It was beyond exciting for me. I think my sisters were actually a little embarrassed at how giddy I was over the wine presentation. We also shared mussels, a panini, and an amazing homemade ice cream sandwich with espresso ice cream & warm chocolate chip cookies. It was the perfect end to girls night with two of my favorite people in the world!

Come visit me soon, please!

Daily Ear Candy

I've been wearing these Marc by Marc Jacobs signature earrings nonstop lately! They're so small and comfortable for day-to-day wear. While I was home, I was browsing through Sak's and spotted these close cousins. I love the hearts and for under $40, they're quite a steal. I just might have to order them online. It doesn't hurt that they have my honey's name in them either!

Sometimes simpler really is better.

All Hands on Deck

I'm absolutely in love with this apron from Anthropologie. It's a must-have for me. Now. Seriously. I'm convinced my cooking might even improve if I was wearing this.

Gilt-y Pleasures

These gorgeous, sparkly cocktail rings by Swarovski were featured on Gilt today and I really had to restrain myself from buying one. Aren't they a great statement piece?! Everything else would have to be simple and understated if you had on such a bold piece like this. The chocolate-colored one definitely has my vote. Gilt is such a great shopping site, but sometimes it's just too tempting and I have to delete the sale e-mails so I can still afford my rent and bills!

Scout it Out

I have to share this site with you because I think these products are amazing! Scout bags are durable, versatile, and adorable and can serve a variety of purposes. I have at least three of them (in different sizes) and I find myself using them all the time. I just recently got a large collapsable storage bin to keep in the back of my car to corral all the stuff that accumulates each week. I love the selection of patterns and bright colors that you can choose from, and the price is right! Plus, Deb Johns (the creator) has been a family friend since before I was even born. I know! She is one clever lady! I can't wait to get my hands on an insulated lunch tote to add to my growing collection. So go check out their site and become a fan on Facebook, too!

What's your favorite pattern?

Big Apple Bound

I'm headed to NYC bright and early tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited! I haven't planned anything too specific, which makes the adventure that much better. Usually I have a list of places to visit and things to see (more like buy), but this weekend is up in the air and I like it! I know I'll be keeping my eyes out for this. I hope to get some good snapshots, enjoy fun company, and maybe taste a cupcake and drink some vino. That doesn't seem like too much to ask. I just love walking around the city. Every time I visit I try to imagine how different life would be if I called the city home. I feel like I wouldn't appreciate it as much, you know? Nothing can compare to a little weekend getaway in New York. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Anyone have any last minute suggestions?

Juicy Cute?

I feel like these Juicy sandals could look really, really cute on. Or they might look hideous. It's hard to tell. Either way, I like the little metal studs sprinkled on top, don't you?

Wedding Attire

I'm on a mission to find a dress for my cousin's wedding that's coming up in August. I've been obsessing over this Maggy London number since seeing it in Nordstrom's spring catalog, but when I tried it on it wasn't quite what I expected. I do love the colors, though, and I still think the dress is amazing. I'm afraid it would look a little too costume-y and like I raided Carol Brady's closet!

What do you think?

Obsession of the Moment

I cannot stop drinking this orange Pellegrino. It's similar to Orangina, but less sugary & without all the pulp. The orange flavor is tart and refreshing. Oh, and the packaging is neat, too! The cans have foil lids on top that you have to peel back before you can open the tab. So delicious. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out.

Time for a Watch

I love the little rhinestones that give this bold watch some feminine flair. The design is so simple and sleek. I've really been on a watch kick lately! So unlike me. I usually rely on my cell phone to tell the time. Do you have a favorite everyday timepiece? I need some guidance!

Be My Guest: Taina Style

I'm so excited to present a very special guest blogger today: Glenda from Taina Style. I was lucky enough to do a guest spot on her blog earlier this month and she kindly returned the favor. Check out her site for up to the minute fashion trends, gorgeous photo spreads, and a healthy dose of great style! She picked some of her favorite Spring trends to look out for in the coming weeks (and even included Marc Jacobs-yay!). My favorite is definiely a toss up between the military inspired and floral trends. How will you wear these looks?

Tribal
Gucci; Stella McCartney; Lavin
Tribal with a modern twist influenced many spring collections. Bold wooden jewelry and gladiator sandals compliments these ethnic looks!

Denim
Stella McCartney; D&G; House of Holland

Denim is a part of just about every one's wardrobe. The young and flirty trend consists of dresses, bleached, ripped and torn jeans and even denim accessories. The head to toe denim look is usually a fashion don't, but you might have a free pass this season.

Florals
Marni Milan; Dennis Basso; Christian Dior

Florals were everywhere in the spring 2010 shows. The prints were in all forms from bright to dark to big to small. A lot of the floral trends can easily be worn to work and for a night out on the town. My favorite pieces are the floral dresses with a 1940's vintage vibe.

Military Inspiration

Aquilano.Rimondi; Balmain; Marc Jacobs

Military inspiration was prominent amongst the spring runways. It's taking what traditionally is a masculine uniform into a more feminine dressed up silhouette. While most of the pieces were jackets, this trend is looking to take all forms from dresses to shoes. There are even unfortunate rumors of fatigue making a come back.

Trends can be tricky, so make sure to wear whatever it is that makes you feel good!

Thanks Taylor for the invite to guest post on your blog!

xoxo

Finding Nemo

Are these not the cutest things you've ever seen?! Lyndsay is one talented lady! I would love to dream up a birthday theme and see what kinds of cupcakes she could come up with.

Nice work!

Suit Up

I think this sailor-inspired blazer is a perfect transition piece for chilly spring evenings. Tory Burch has really been catching my eye lately! Wouldn't it look great with some espadrilles?

Book of Awesome

I'm a big fan of the blog 1000 Awesome Things, so naturally, I went out and bought the book written by the creator of the site. It is definitely awesome! It really makes you stop and think about the simple, little things throughout your day that make you happy. It's also fun to think about how universally appealing certain things are, like popping bubble wrap or being granted an unexpected snow day. I bought the book right before heading to the airport yesterday and three separate people commented on it just from peering at the cover! I encourage you to check out the blog and if you like that, check out the book too!

On a somewhat related side note, I also purchased a set of five colored bobby pins at J. Crew earlier in the day and the rainbow colors reminded me of the word awesome on the cover of the book. I know. Ridiculous. I swear I didn't coordinate the purchases intentionally.

What are some awesome things that make you happy?

Lauren's Baby Shower

The shower yesterday was beautiful! We had a great day filled with silly games, yummy snacks, and lots of baby gear! Here are some shots from the party.

Pretty blue hydrangeas

I love miniature calla lillies

Little boy clothesline-so tiny!

The mom & dad in training

All the ladies & baby Carter

Time Traveler

I never, ever wear a watch but I have been drooling over my sister's all weekend. It's beautiful and magically seems to go with everything. I'm trying to come up with a plan to "borrow" it to decide whether or not I want one of my own. Sadly, she's pretty possessive of her fancy belongings. I like the tortoise shell and white varieties, too!

Which one is your pick?

There's No Place Like Home

I'm having a blast at home so far. The weather is perfect, the puppy is adorable, and it's been great to catch up with friends and family. Hope you're having a fun weekend too! I can't wait for the baby shower this afternoon. My mom has been working so hard on decorations, finger foods, and flower arrangements. I know Lauren is going to love it! Photos to come...

Wake Up!

I'm dying to try the new all about eyes product from Clinique. I've seen it advertised all over the place this past week. It's a de-puffing serum that massages your under eye and (supposedly) rejuvenates it and makes dark circles less noticeable. It's basically a miracle in a roll-on tube (if it actually works, that is). I think I'm going to make a little trip to Sephora today and scoop one up during their beauty savings promotion. Everyone can use a little pick-me-up once in a while. Does anyone honestly get 8 hours of beauty rest anymore?

Have any of you tested it out yet?

Accessorize Me

Love these Marc Jacobs finds, especially the apple ring! Perfect for the teacher in your life (hint, hint).

Marc Jacobs is amazing. I heart him.

Taina Style

I was so lucky to be featured as a guest blogger on Taina Style this weekend! Check out my picks for some fun warm weather trends and read up on Glenda's insights into the fashion world. Check back here next week for Glenda's guest post!

Tea Time

These cups and saucers are part Mad Hatter and part Dr. Seuss and I think that's what makes me love them so much! I love anything that adds color and whimsy to my kitchen, don't you? Nice work, Dean & Deluca.

Touch-Ups To Go

I've never been one to carry a separate cosmetics bag with me when I go out, but this little pouch may sway me! I love the orange & teal color combination and seahorse print on this bag by Dylan & Dillon. Even if I don't carry it in my purse, it'd be great for toting sunscreen to the beach. The vinyl lining makes clean up a cinch.

I think orange is definitely my new favorite color!

Ahoy Mates

I've always been a lover of all things nautical, especially in the accessories department. I think my love of anchors and stripes comes from my Pop-Pop being in the Navy. Every spring, it seems like there's always some sort of sailor-inspired trend and this year is definitely no exception. I've spotted tons of cute things and I'm dying to share them with you all!

Chanel resin cuffs

Chanel handbag

Louis Vuitton cuffs

Forever 21 tank

J. Crew swimsuit

Anthropologie tote made from recycled sails

Antropologie sailor-inspired pencil skirt

I can't decide which pieces I love the most, but the cuff bracelets are up there! What's your favorite way to wear this trend?
